Over 2 million people have fled Syria since the beginning of the conflict in 2011, making this one of the largest refugee exoduses in recent history with no end yet in sight.

"Over 2 million people have fled Syria since the beginning of the conflict in 2011, making this one of the largest refugee exoduses in recent history with no end yet in sight. Since the crisis began nearly three years ago, more than one million children from Syria have become refugees; more than 425,000 are under the age of five. The vast majority of these refugees have fled either to Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq.  Among them, around 8,000 children have been identified as being separated from their families." Read more

In Belgium, the consortium 12-12 (Caritas InternationalHandicap International, Médecins du Monde, Oxfam-Solidarité and UNICEF Belgium), launched a massive appeal to the belgian public to raise funds for the humanitarian aid in Syria and in neightboring countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq).
